Crystalline Silicon PV R&D Scientist/Engineer – IPV Israel
Job Description:
This position is for a researcher who has the knowledge and experience to drive the development of highest performance devices fabricated from crystalline silicon wafers. It assumes an ability to develop, manage, and execute a well-developed research plan that supports the company’s technical roadmap. Knowledge of solar cell design, together with fabrication processes and procedures, is essential; ability to develop and champion improved processes is expected. Demonstrated ability to develop new and innovative toolsets is a significant plus. Proposal development and research contract management, including document development and interaction with external partners, are part of this position. The scientist/engineer works out of the Israeli R&D center in a multi-national team consisting of device and process engineers and technicians, and reports to IPV’s Senior Scientist located in IPV’s San Jose, CA office.
Job Responsibilities:
· Identify innovative ideas to improve the efficiency and reduce the cost of silicon solar cells. Create and present technical proposals.
· Lead a high-performance, fast response, data-driven experimental program.
· Act as project manager for individual projects that feed into the technical roadmap.
· Collaborate with consultants and external research partners.
· Optimize device design using PC1D and other analytical and modeling tools.
· Perform standard and innovative solar cell processes.
· Safely perform all wet chemical processing, including chemicals common to crystalline silicon and thin-film solar processes.
· Document and communicate plans, status, and results of R&D projects in written reports and verbal presentations. Participate in technical proposal writing.
· Work together with process and test tool suppliers to improve equipment design, test new tools, and drive improvements.
Job Requirements:
· MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Physics.
· Practical knowledge of the physics and engineering of silicon and/or of thin-film solar cells.
· At least 2 years of hands-on experience with the technology, processes and materials used to fabricate and test silicon and/or thin-film solar cells.
· Demonstrated ability with process development and improvement.
· Experience with PC1D cell model and/or other design and analysis programs.
· Proficient in basic statistics, data analysis, and design-of-experiments.
· This position is in IPV’s Israeli office. Some travel to San Jose, CA and partners’ locations (globally) will be required.
